The final FY24 Defense Appropriations Act allocated $826 billion for Pentagon spending. This includes funding for known wasteful programs like the F-35 fighter jet, littoral combat ship, and more. Some GOP members also decided to use this bill in order to attack LGBTQIA+ (particularly trans) rights; diversity, equity and inclusion training; and climate justice programs. The adoption of such “anti-woke” amendments led to an unprecedented vote almost along party lines. Passed 218-210.
