The Iraq Position Locator
Slate magazine has put together a handy “Iraq Position Locator” on its website. You can see the opinions of presidential candidates, politicians, pundits and reports, and how they have evolved over the last four years.
One piece that is often missing from stories about politicians’ Iraq positions is whether or not they support leaving a “residual force”—“non-combat” troops carrying out limited missions, which could number as many as 60,000 troops. Our Voters for Peace and Security organizers are working on the ground to get candidates on the record and clarify the difference between the candidates when it comes to leaving troops behind. You can follow presidential candidates’ statements on this issue at our Voters for Peace and Security blog.
