Want to get involved in the peace movement? Rebecca and I need several interns over the summer to help end the war in Iraq and stop new nuclear weapons. Four years ago, I was frustrated by the Iraq war and looking for something to do about it when I stumbled upon a volunteer opportunity at Peace Action West. I’ve learned so much since my first days tabling as a volunteer and I hope our interns will have a similarly rewarding experience.

You can apply for an unpaid 16-20 hour per week internship as part of our issue advocacy campaigns beginning May/June to August 2008. The schedule is flexible and interns will work out of our Berkeley office. You’ll learn about creating an effective grassroots campaign, gain experience in the non-profit world and end each day knowing you’ve made an impact on two critical foreign policy issues.

Our Iraq campaign interns will do research on key members of Congress and media coverage of the war. Interns for our nuclear weapons campaign will be doing outreach to communities in key congressional districts to help cut funding for two dangerous nuclear weapons programs as a first step towards a better nuclear policy.
