I called Rep. Boswell and was told they would pass my request to get out of Afghanistan along to him. I let them know I previously lived in Dennis’ district and would like Leonard to help support Dennis’ efforts to end the war. I received no response, other than “I’ll pass this along”. I did clearly identify myself.
I called Dennis Moores office and was told that the foreign affairs clear was busy. I clearly identified myself. I informed the man that answered the call about my request and he said that he would pass the information along.
Hi– I would have talked about my phone call, but this is the first time I’ve run into a site that makes me log in, then publishes my comments. Does this mean that, actually, you *don’t* want to hear feedback? I suspect you’re going to get very few people to report in with this system…

Thanks for giving us feedback. Because we have our hands in so many different pots, we often don’t create policies around specific technologies until we receive feedback. This is one of those cases.
After reading your feedback, our executive director Kevin just stopped by my office and we chatted about your concerns. We’ve now created our first “comment policy”, allowing anyone to comment without logging in. If people do want to log-in, or if they would like to leave a name (or pseudonym), they’re more than welcome to do that too.

I called Representative Bruce Braley, and the staffer who answered the phone didn’t know where Braley stood, as the staffer hadn’t spoken to the representative about the issue.

Asked for Afghanistan or foreign policy aide, got voice mail. Told of my concerns, asked for Schiff to co-sponsor, vote for, get others to vote for and generally support a strategy toward withdrawal of troops. Left my number and asked for a call back re his position on H.C.R. 248 and Afghanistan war in general.
I spoke with Steven at Rep. Keith Ellison’s office. I asked that he vote yes on the resolution and speak for it on the floor.

K’s initiative to our Mid-MO FOR e-mail list of several hundred folks (hopefully many took the requested action). Thanks for your efforts to spread the word of this peacemaker (if only we could now be adding “Pres.” as his current title!
Hi, I spoke w/Congressman Neal’s office, they said, Frances Crowe had called yesterday about the resolution. Sarah said it is on their radar. No commitment but she would pass on our request for Neal to sign on. He’s flying back to D.C. today. Paki Wieland
Called Ted Poe’s office, clerk said would pass msg on – I said we could better use the tax monies for a public option in health care so we could have a healthier nation, that could defend itself (at home) better, without creating more terrorists here, by being over there. Also called Speaker Pelosi and said it would be better for Congress to be in charge of War rather than a pres., who seems to be like Bush with his war agenda.
I phoned Rep. Young’s office and urged the Representative to support Rep. Kucinich’s resolution. Rep. Young does not have a good voting record. I doubt he will vote in support, however, he knows how I stand.
Called Chris Van Hollen’s office. Staffer transfered me over to one Ken Cummings, whose voice mail recorded my statements as per the email received from Peace Action. Will try again after lunch.
Congresswoman Capps aide did not know of Mrs. Capp’s stand on this issue – but she seemed to agree with me that health insurance is more important than war.

I called Congressman Bilbray’s office and asked to speak with their Foreign Affairs person dealing with Afghanistan. The guy who answered claimed he was in a meeting and said he would take a message. I tried to impress on him that Congress is responsible for deciding on wars, not the Presidency, and that Congress should be questioning the strategy and the huge amount of tax dollars being spent in occupying other countries. He claimed he would relay the message that I wanted the Congressman to back the Kucinich resolution.

I called Representative Filner’s office and the staff person who answered will pass on the message for the Congressman to talk to other members of Congress about supporting this resolution.
I spoke with Marvin, a foreign policy aide, in Rep. Clay’s office. He suggested that Mr. Clay would ‘probably’ support Rep. Kuchinich’s bill but that H.Con. 248 may be more about symbolism than ‘meat'(his word). He said he would pass the my message on.
I called Rep Peter Welch’s office (D-VT) and spoke with a staffer who said he was familiar with the Resolution, but he wouldn’t give me any indication about how Welch would vote. He did say he had gotten other calls about it. I requested that he email me to let me know how Rep Welch would vote or did vote.
Left message for George Miller of CA. Didn’t seem too interested in finding the staffer for Afghanistan. Hoping Miller will join Reps. Lee, Stark & Woolsey from our state.
They would not comment one way or another at Rep. Chris Smith’s (R-NJ) office. I would be willing to bet that he will not support the amendment.

I talked to an aide who said that he’d pass along the informtion. He didn’t know what Rep. Waxman’s (CA 30) position would be. I told the aide that I hoped that Waxman would be courageous and end these wars.

I called Rep. David Price -District 4-NC. I spoke to the fellow answering the phone. In asking to speak to an aide on Foreign Policy, he asked what my question was. I stated my clear request for Rep. Price to co-sponsor and speak up in support H.Con. Res. 248 on Afghanistan. He replied H. Con Res 248 was in discussion amongst the office earlier today. The reply I received was “Rep. Price has not made a decision on that bill yet.” I restated my request and hope in the most encouraging life affirming terms.
Talked to an intern who was largely clueless. Asked to address someone who knew what was going on and everyone was at meetings. I’ll call back but have work and a protest against our public school’s takeover this PM. I pointed out some of Gwen Moore’s previous voting record disastors such as the Goldstone censure, last appropriation’s funding, troop escalations, etc. I mentioned that my House heroes aside from Dennis incl’d B. Lee, M. Kaptur, A. Grayson, etc who always stand tall for the people and against the eternal wars and that I would be proud to have Gwen Moore stand with that admirable group in helping to end this madness and start bringing in real money for education, health care, infrastructure, etc.

I called Rep. Tim Murphy from PA. He’s a Republican so he cannot possibly vote against the Military Industrial Complex.

I left word for Rep. Hoyer urging that he support the resolution, emphasizing how important this would be given his powerful position as House majority leader.
I called Rep Jan Schakowsky’s D.C. office and expressed my wish that she support Res 248 to end funding for war in Afghanistan.
I called Rep. Camp’s office to say that I would like for him to support Rep. Kucinick’s Res. 248. It is time all wars end. We need our taxpayers dollars spent here at home, especially to make up for the 1.3 trillion dollar tax cut Bush gave away. That would more than pay for health insurance reform.
Left message with an aide. The Foreign Policy aide was not in the office.
I contacted Rep Michael McMahon of Staten Island. The person handling Afghanistan, the one you want to speak to, is Major Carlos Alford. I emphasized the fact that this resolution would at least bring the war in Afghanistan to a debate, and that though I thought Petraeus’s new strategy was a huge improvement over Shock and Awe, the whole War on Terror concept was pushed through under Bush as a reaction to 9/11 and has never had the serious debate it deserves. The Major already knew about the Resolution and was polite and receptive. This is a big improvement for McMahon’s office. The last time I contacted them about this they sent me form letter thanking me for my views on health care.

I just spoke to Marianna at Cong. Lynch’s office here in Massachusetts. She is the “Foreign Policy aide”. She indicated that Lynch has not taken a position on this. I told her that I support Kucinich’s resolution and want him to support it also. And, I told her that he is always on the fence and he should have his mind made up by now as the vote is probably tomorrow.
I just called Cong. Norm Dicks office, asking the voice on the phone to let my congressman know that Kucinich’s approach seems good to me. I also urged Cong. Dicks to look for weapon systems to eliminate & use monies saved to strengthen diplomacy…
I left the message with a staff person for Rep. Walt Minnick. I have no idea how he will respond to my request but at least he knows that one of his constituents wants him to support this resolution.
I called Congressman Sylvestre Reyes (D-TX) — his Middle East staff person was in a meeting but I left a message asking Cong. Reyes to support and co-sponsor H.R. 248 and BRING OUR TROOPS HOME!
Left a message with a staff person who’s last name is Tittleman. I asked that Rep. Schrader support the bill and that I be contacted when he (staff person) knows how Schrader will vote.
Left a message with an assistant named Jenkins in Rep. Tim Bishop’s office; could not get him out of a meeting. Urged support of Kucinich (my HERO!) resolution and asked him to get back to me and tell me what Bishop’s position is.
I spoke with one of Congressman Xavier Becerra’s aides at his home office in Los Angeles. She asked me for my address and zip code and said she would pass on my message of urging him to support HR 248.
Phoned Rep. Austria. Very courteous male answerer. I ask Austria to read and support Kucinich resolution248. Aide ask what 248 was about. I identified it–after about 3 words he said, “Oh, yes. I know that one.”‘Ask for my name and address repeating each bit of info.
I brace myself for an Austria reply. They are maddening to read. And he nearly always assures me he will continue to vote PRO LIFE no matter what I’m calling about. And that just about ruins my day. Mary M. Morgan a strong supporter of Reproductive Rights and anti-imperialism in a right-Republican District. So it goes.

Try approaching it from “their” perspective. Instead of saying Kucinich right off the bat, maybe we can try to point out that Ron Paul was an original cosponsor. You may get listened to more than by starting out the conversation with Kucinich’s name. Also, try citing the CPAC poll where anti-war Ron Paul won hands-down over figures like Sarah Palin and Tim Pawlenty.
I called today (Tuesday) and left a message with an aide. I kept my request simple and hope that many people called today as well. I hope his office was inundated with calls like mine. Numbers, I hope, count.
I left a message with an aide at Rep.Holt’s office. Representative Holt is a progressive congessman and I am confident he will give this petition serious consideration.
I used the “script” and left my message on Rep. Dan Burton’s answering machine as requested by the person answering the phone. I left a phone number and asked for a reply.
Called Rep. Ellsworth’s office and asked a staff member to strongly recommend that Ellsworth support the Kucinich amendment.
I called Rep. Polis’ office and spoke to Michael, a staff member. I followed the script and Michael said he could not speak for Rep. Polis but would get back to me when he finds out the Rep. stand on Rep. Kucinich’s 248 resolution. He took down my email address.

I live in Mechanicsville, VA 23116-4005 and am in Congressman Eric Cantor’s district. I called his office and left a message with his staffer.
I called twice and spoke with Tara as the aide Vince Erse, on Military/Defense was away from his desk for the day! Tara said there was no one there who could give me Dreier’s position on H.Con Res 248. I asked Tara for a written response from Dreier and urged him to cosponsor H. Con Res 248.
I think I will call again Wed. and try to talk w/aide Vince Erse as it concerns me that there was no aide there who could tell me Dreier’s position.
I talked with a staff member who said he didn’t yet know her position on this resolution, but promised to pass along my message. I asked that she co-sponsor the resolution.
i spoke with a member of his staff who did not sound too familiar with the bill. i left Congressman Salazar to please support this bill so that our troops could come home. She said she would pass it on.
I called Rep. McCotter’s office and spoke to his aide. I inquired if the aide knew the representative’s position on the resolution, and he indicated he did not. I expressed my great desire to see our troops withdrawn from Afghanistan before the end of the year, and I left a message for Rep. McCotter urging him to vote “yea” on H. Con Res. 248, and even co-sponsor it. I also identified myself as a member of Peace Action.
I called Rep. Mike Capuano at 6:14 pm. Left a voice message thanking him for signing on to the resolution and asking him to continue to work for its passage. I also identified myself as a member of Peace Action.
Called local office. They said they did not know Heinrich’s position but it generally follows Obamas lead.

Dennis Kucinch is one of the few non-bought congresspeople. I left a message for Rep.Frelinghuysen urging his support for Afghan withdrawal.
Lowey’s aide sounded blank and laughed sympathetically when I added “I REALLY wish she would vote for Kucinich’s resolution! He will “pass it on”. Sigh!
Called this morning at 9:40. Spoke briefly about FL’s Mr. Mack’s letter last week–back to me on this same issue. He’s pro-war, pro-MIC and wasn’t even very patient in the letter saying so. I told him that my group, Pax Christi, has hundreds of people who feel just like I do and so we all expect him to represent our point of view and vote yeah on H. Con Res. 248. The phone secretary said he would pass on the comment.
Congressman Tiahrt’s aide in the office was friendly and promised to relay my message. The person who actually handles this sort of business was in a meeting.
I called WA Rep Doc Hastings at 7:50am 3/10/10. I was asked for my address and requested regular mail rather than email response.
I called Reps Schakowsky, Jesse Jackson, Danny Davis, Phil Hare, Luis Gutierrez and Quigley. All places that I have lived and I left messages with their staffers. Who knows how they will vote, you don’t get much feedback from these staffers.

I phoned Rep. Tom McClintock’s office and spoke to an aide. I mentioned Dennis Kucinich’s Resolution and why I supported us leaving Afghanistan. This is a new kind of war. We cannot fight it traditionally. The Russians knew to get out when they were there. The aide said I had given it a good deal of thought and that my comments would be passed onto Rep. McClintock.
