It’s time for those of us who love peace to push back – hard.
Just last week, the president signed a sweeping memorandum that labels broad political beliefs like “anti-Americanism,” “anti-capitalism,” and “hostility towards traditional American values” as fueling political violence. This dangerous effort empowers law enforcement to investigate and target activists, nonprofits, and their funders — criminalizing dissent and threatening the very foundations of democratic organizing.
On October 18, we must unite with millions of like-minded people in the streets and push back. The media, politicians, and the people as a whole need to see masses in the streets demonstrating democratic resistance to this power grab:

Now, with this week’s terrifying speeches by Trump and Pete Hegseth, the threat has become clearer and more immediate. President Trump told military leaders that they need to “handle” what he called an “enemy from within,” referring to protestors, immigrants and dissenters. He talked about using the U.S. military as a “quick reaction force that can help quell civil disturbances” and threatened liberal cities saying “I told Pete, we should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military. National Guard, but our military. Because we’re going into Chicago very soon. That’s a big city with an incompetent governor.”
President Trump is acting like a dictator — abducting immigrants, occupying cities with troops, gutting healthcare and education, silencing voters, and rewarding billionaires while working families struggle. It is clear: democracy itself is under siege.
Experience with authoritarian governments shows that visible, mass resistance works to inspire grassroots mobilizations that can slow down and ultimately topple authoritarian governments.
On October 18, millions across the country will gather with one clear demand: America belongs to all of us. No Kings. No Crowns. No Thrones. No Dictators.
