Washington, DC — September 4, 2018 — Peace Action has announced its endorsement of Tahirah Amatul-Wadud for Congress in Massachusetts’ 1st Congressional District. Peace Action is a national grassroots organization working to advance nuclear disarmament, promote government spending priorities that support human needs, encourage real security through international cooperation and human rights, and support nonmilitary solutions to international conflicts.

Paul Kawika Martin, Senior Director for Policy and Political Affairs at Peace Action, who also directs Peace Action’s PAC, said of Amatul-Wadud, “Peace Action is thrilled to endorse Tahirah Amatul-Wadud because she is ready to fight for a government that is truly of, by and for the people. She knows that diplomacy can offer lasting security in a way that war never will, and that keeping our country safe means working collaboratively with other nations to address global challenges.”

Cole Harrison, Executive Director of Massachusetts Peace Action, added, “Tahira’s platform is unambiguously progressive, endorsing Medicare for All, debt-free public college education, a constitutional amendment to limit corporate campaign money in politics, progressive taxation and abortion rights. She also supports repealing the overly-broad Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF), limiting the president’s war-making powers, and prohibiting the first use of nuclear weapons.”
