LA readers: become an expert grassroots lobbyist
What is the most effective way to influence a member of Congress?
If you want to sway a member of Congress on tough issues like the war in Afghanistan, diplomacy with Iran, or nuclear weapons, then a face to face meeting is the most powerful thing you can do. That's not just my opinion – it’s coming straight from the people who work most closely with your representatives in Congress.
That's why I'm coming to Los Angeles, home of several influential members of Congress, to hold a training on how the average person can use one of the most powerful advocacy tools out there.

I know meeting with your representative or his or her staff might sound intimidating, but it’s easy if you have the inside scoop on the skills and art of lobbying. I’ll be holding a special community training for activists this weekend, and I would love to see you there.
In this workshop, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about how to set up a delegation to your local congressional office, offer important tips on maximizing the effectiveness of your meeting, and give you a chance to practice your lobbying skills. I’ll also have materials for you to use and share with your fellow activists, and refreshments will be served.
