SAY NO TO MILITARY DICTATORSHIPS HERE AND IN PAKISTAN!
I don’t have a lot of time to make a proper analysis of the situation in Pakistan today but I wanted to take some space here to reflect on Democracy. How is it that our President claims to have invaded Iraq to unseat a military dictator who does not believe in Democracy AND YET will support Musharraf in his bid to overrun democracy in Pakistan.
Now the unpopular Pakistani strongman has imposed a state of emergency, disbanding the Supreme Court, shutting down the media and basic freedoms, and imprisoning democratic opposition leaders and activists. The ‘Emergency” is a cover to buy the time for backroom deals to ensure Musharraf’s political survival. All the while the populist former PM, Benazir Bhutto is blockaded into her home by the military and prevented from attending the opposition rally.

I must say that these are very sad days for Pakistan. The person we thought is going to help Pakistan move forward turns out to be a snake with many siblings in the shape of Shukat Aziz and many other cronies. This person has damaged the image of Pakistan all over the world. When I go to Office here in North America, my staff ask me about this snake and his motives. This snake has shed Pakistani nation’s blood worth few million american dollars for which he and his cronies are very proud.
Pakistan is a great country and my heart bleeds to see what is going on in Pakistan today like many other brothers and sisters of this country.
With all that in mind, I am sure this country has the ability to bounce back. I hope that this country will have the courage to get rid of this snake soon by the grace of God.

Thank you for your words and perspective. I too am very sad so Pakistan. My simple understanding of the history and culture is limited but I know enough to say that Pakistanis are proud, value knowledge and friendship. I know they invest in one another for a greater future. I know all this too about Americans. We all have our snakes; in the government and in industry. I only hope the PEOPLE, both here and in Pakistan, can take back the proud legacy of our nations.
