Peace Action Endorses Kara Eastman for Congress

 In 2020 Election, Congress

Washington, DC — June 24, 2019 — Peace Action has announced its endorsement of Kara Eastman for Congress in Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District. Peace Action is a national grassroots organization working to advance nuclear disarmament, promote government spending priorities that support human needs, encourage real security through international cooperation and human rights, and support nonmilitary solutions to international conflicts.

“I am honored by Peace Action’s early endorsement in this pivotal election cycle,” said Eastman. “Peace Action’s work promoting diplomacy and nuclear disarmament is critical to addressing the challenges faced by the international community, and I look forward to working with them to keep Americans safe and the world secure.”

Eastman added, “We need to refocus our foreign policy towards ending our current wars and preventing future ones – moral imperatives that will require a fully funded State Department and appropriate congressional engagement that prevents an erratic president from unilaterally sending the United States into war. Such measures are necessary for the long-term peace and security we need.”

Paul Kawika Martin, Senior Director for Policy and Political Affairs at Peace Action, who also directs Peace Action’s PAC, said of Eastman, “Peace Action is thrilled to endorse Kara Eastman once again because she has dedicated her career to serving the public interest, and her experience and moral courage make her the kind of leader we need in Congress if we’re going to achieve a world of peace and security.”

Martin added, “Kara Eastman is the only candidate in the race we trust to advance a new foreign policy vision that emphasizes security through investments in diplomacy and human needs here at home instead of endless wars around the globe.”
