October surprise?

 In Action Alert, Iran

Presidential candidates are terrified of looking weak on security — especially in the final weeks before an election. And anti-Iran hawks are doing everything they can to exploit this window in their drive for a dangerous confrontation.

We need to fight back. Take action now to tell the House and Senate to stand up against military action against Iran.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has taken to American airwaves to increase the pressure on President Obama to attack Iran. Misinformation is rampant, with an ABC reporter going as far as making the ludicrous claim that Iran could assemble a nuclear weapons in 4 weeks.

At the same time, Mitt Romney just demonstrated his total lack of knowledge about both Iran and nuclear proliferation. His barely coherent comments at a fundraiser on Iran’s nuclear program sound more like a pitch for an episode of “24” than an informed reading of geopolitical realities.

Organizations around the country are mobilizing this week to drown out the war drums with a clear message to Congress: “No war on Iran!” Take action now.

The bomb first, ask questions later crowd is not shy about putting the heat on Congress. We already know from Iraq that politicians can be backed into supporting war if the pressure is strong enough.

We need to get out ahead of the calls for military action and tell Congress we won’t stand for another costly, devastating war. Take action today.

Thanks for helping us stop the next war.
