All night spending spree

 In Action Alert, Pentagon Spending

spending_-_discretionary_pie_2014_big

Members of Congress were up all night spending your tax dollars.

The House Armed Services Committee worked into the wee hours of the morning on the budget for the Pentagon and nuclear weapons. Like many all night events, this one didn’t involve much restraint.

The bill on the table blows caps on Pentagon spending out of the water, and increases funding for nuclear weapons. Tell your representative to cut wasteful spending when the bill comes to the floor next week.

Where did they find all this extra money for the Pentagon? The House budget exempts the Pentagon from fiscal responsibility by cutting domestic programs even more deeply than the sequester.

We need to show them that we’re watching and we won’t stand for this. Take action now.

This is a shameful, immoral budget that promotes U.S. militarism around the world over feeding, educating and providing medical care in America, repairing antiquated infrastructure, phasing in sustainable energy sources, getting poisons and destructive practices out of agriculture and creating large scale responses to inevitable changes in climate. We need a more perfect union rather than this irresponsible, dangerous budget plan.
